From Classical Prodigy to Vocal Powerhouse and Part-Time Snowboarder

Turns out, even rock gods have humble beginnings. Our frontman, Joe Cusack, started his musical journey at the tender age of seven, dutifully plucking away at classical guitar. For three years, school concerts knew him only as "that kid who plays guitar really well." But then, at the ripe old age of ten, something shifted. The mic beckoned, and Joe gave his first vocal performance, likely blowing the socks off unsuspecting parents.

Fast forward to the Great Pause of 2020 (aka the Covid pandemic). While most of us were perfecting our sourdough or binge-watching everything, Joe, armed with an unprecedented amount of free time, decided to dive headfirst into his craft. The result? His very first original song, "Run Away," a track that clearly signaled he was done running from his destiny.

Joe's musical palate is as eclectic as his talents. On the heavier side, he's channeling the raw energy of Queens of the Stone Age and Royal Blood – so you know where that vocal power comes from. But don't let that fool you; he's equally at home chilling with the melodic genius of Wilco and The Beatles. It's this delightful blend that gives The Nevers their unique edge.

And when he's not busy captivating audiences or laying down tracks with The Nevers? Joe's currently honing his wizardry in music production at the University of West London. Oh, and at the exact moment you're reading this, he's probably carving up a mountain on his snowboard, proving that even rockstars need a little altitude adjustment. Multitasking? Joe's got it down.

From Boxing Ring to Drum Kit and a Whole Lot of Rhythm

Forget the gloves and the ring; Stanley Nunes, The Nevers' rhythmic powerhouse, traded punches for percussion at the ripe old age of 15. Apparently, the dream of being a boxer got a swift knockout, and thankfully for our ears, music stepped in as the ultimate sparring partner.

Like many during the Great Pandemic Pause, Stanley found himself with an abundance of boredom and a desperate need for a cure. His initial prescription? A guitar. He strummed, he plucked, he probably even attempted a few power chords. But then, after a year of six-string solitude, fate intervened in the form of a Nirvana video. One glimpse of Dave Grohl absolutely annihilating a drum kit, and something clicked. Or rather, ignited. The guitar was promptly (and probably lovingly) set aside, and a new obsession was born: drums.

Stanley's musical influences are a delightful sonic brawl. On the heavy end, he's channeling the thunderous might of Queens of the Stone Age and the legendary darkness of Black Sabbath – which explains why The Nevers' beats hit so hard. But don't let that fool you; he's also got a soft spot for the iconic artistry of David Bowie and the sharp, mod brilliance of The Jam. It's this eclectic mix that gives The Nevers' rhythm section its unique punch.

When he's not holding down the fort for The Nevers, Stanley's still deep in the musical trenches, studying at West Herts College alongside fellow bandmate and lead guitarist, Lucas Brasenell. Clearly, these two are cooking up something special, both on and off the stage.

The Nevers' Lead Guitarist, Born from a Parental Volume Control Issue

Before he was weaving intricate solos for The Nevers, Lucas Brasenell had a different percussive dream: drums. Thankfully for his parents' eardrums (and perhaps their sanity), the verdict was swift and clear: "Too loud!" So, at the tender age of eight, Lucas was gently steered towards the guitar, a decision that, in hindsight, was a stroke of genius for rock and roll.

For years, he honed his craft, likely dreaming of the thunderous beats he was forbidden to make. It wasn't until 17 that the songwriting bug truly bit, though he admits it was mostly "the odd chord progression or riff." Clearly, those early scribbles were just the warm-up act for the epic guitar lines we hear today.

Lucas's musical influences are a masterclass in classic rock grandeur and modern funk finesse. He draws heavily from the legendary soundscapes of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd – explaining why his solos feel like a journey through time and space. But then, just when you think you've got him pegged, he throws in the groovy, soulful vibes of Jamiroquai and Tom Misch. It's this delightful, unexpected blend that gives The Nevers' sound its unique, multi-layered texture.

When he's not busy crafting sonic masterpieces for The Nevers, Lucas is still deep in the musical trenches, studying at West Herts College. And who's his partner in academic crime? None other than The Nevers' own rhythm machine, Stanley Nunes. Clearly, these two are cooking up something special, both in the classroom and on the stage

From Unfinished Melodies to The Nevers' Missing Piece and Bass Wizardry

Meet George Rowe, The Nevers' foundational force on bass, whose musical journey began at 11, under the tutelage of his uncle – a classical Spanish guitarist. Imagine the scene: flamenco flourishes, intricate fingerpicking... for two years. Then, George, bless his rebellious heart, decided the classics were great, but his own style was calling. He ditched the rigid lessons and embarked on a self-taught odyssey, proving that sometimes, the best teachers are within.

From a young age, George was a prolific idea generator, a veritable factory of nascent melodies and killer riffs. The only catch? He'd "never finish them!" A true artist, always chasing the next spark. But destiny, as it often does, had a plan. After sixth form, he dove headfirst into the world of music production and songwriting at university. This wasn't just a degree; it was the catalyst that finally turned those half-formed ideas into fully realized sonic masterpieces. He emerged with a First Class BSc Hons, proving that passion, when properly channeled, pays off handsomely.

And then, the stars aligned. All that hard work, all those unfinished songs, all those years of self-discovery finally clicked into place when he met lead vocalist Joe Cusack. It was then that George picked up the bass guitar, and like a perfectly placed final chord, he completed The Nevers puzzle. He wasn't just a bassist; he was the missing piece, grounding their sound and propelling them forward.
